Wow! And we're No. 1 in the U.S.!

Meanwhile, the best US city in which to pursue a tech career, according to CodeClan, is Atlanta, which ranked third behind Zürich. A high concentration of tech companies, coupled with strong average broadband speeds, propelled it to third place, just ahead of Washington, D.C., in fourth. In respective order, Seattle, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Miami, Minneapolis and Boston rounded out the rest of the top 10.

But then you would have to live in Atlanta, the city with all the charm of the north and all the efficiency of the south.

To be fair though most tech works are probably more willing to live in Atlanta than Kansas City. I question lists like this anyway, St. Louis is in the top ten as well.

And Austin isn't in there either. SF is out because of high costs, but Austin is not nearly so expensive.

Austin is a good bit more expensive than Dallas, Houston or Atlanta though at this point. When the average cost for a home in Atlanta was 250K is was 500K+ in Austin. It's probably approaching 600K at this point but regardless I definitely think Austin belongs on this list for sure and I'm suspect of a list that doesn't include Austin. Tech opportunities in Austin are of a greater magnitude at this point. Atlanta is making strides but 5-10 years ago Atlanta wasn't really in any best tech conversation.

I think Austin is pretty expensive, cheaper than SF but still expensive. I know someone who worked at the SK Battery factory in Commerce and is now looking for a place in Austin as he will be working on Samsung's $17 billion semiconductor fab there. The rent now for him is $1700 in Gwinnett, but he says the comparables in Austin to his apartment now is going for around $2800 - $3000.

According to the article: "The largest number of tech companies per capita saw a statistical tie between Zürich and Atlanta, at 0.016."

That's odd because D.C. isn't in the South.
