These illegal street racers know that law enforcement is severely stressed right now and that police may be very hesitant to pursue multiple participants on an Interstate highway, which is why they do it...because they know that they will be likely to get away with such illegal activity.

I think defunding and all the bad pr cops got and no backing from anyone diminished the police force. People have spoken on police and now they get what they get.

Of course, Brock explained that the main purpose of the new cars will be to respond to street racing and “super speeders”, those unlucky souls who find their heavy right foot leading them way over the posted speed limit.

May or may not have been, but the negative press definitely didn't help them.

Where I currently live, our DA has barred police from making traffic stops.. ..meaning we can literally ignore all traffic laws if we wanted to and we won't get pulled over even if we do it right infront of a cop.. ..at the same time they're trying to perform speed limit reductions to save cyclists and pedestrians.. with noone to enforce the lower speed limits ..which is kind of.. ..counter-intuitive..

The APD might not have been financially defunded but one could say that they were devalued by the previous mayor for the way she handled the officers involved in the Rayshard Brooks incident. I'm not opining on the conduct of the officers themselves, but specifically on the way she handled it.

Yeah, it's been a little lost to history, but KLB was definitely role-playing as a San Francisco mayor for a little while there in 2020 when she was gunning for national relevance. I would not be surprised that the cops still have a beef with the city government after that
