I am in the same boat as you guys—stressed out about the waitlist! I’m trying to remain optimistic about our #1 school though! Fingers crossed!!

I'm shocked there aren't more places on the internet to discuss the Atlanta private school admissions process. It's so much more stressful compared to the other city I've lived in.

The deadline to accept offers of admission was yesterday, so many of the waitlist offers should have come out today, right?

That was my understanding, but I’m still hopeful that the calls will come Monday!

I assume given no one heard back yet did you place a deposit to secure a spot in one of the other places you were accepted?

We applied for pre-k at Woodward. My kid has an August birthday (technically past their cutoff). I knew that there was a possibility that the August birthday could be an issue, so I had already registered to stay where we are for another year and readdress private school admissions this Fall. I am still hopeful because I never want to go through the admissions process again though!

Did you go ahead and pay a deposit to a school that your child got admitted to? If your desired school pulls them from the waitlist, are you prepared to lose that money to go to the waitlisted school? Just curious about everyone’s thought process, since I might have to do this all over again next year…

We got a notice on Friday through the application portal of acceptance and then the school reach out to us to confirm our interest. So, there is some movement. Others schools haven't said anything yet. Naturally, we will go with the school that wants our kid. Hope that helps.

I have three kids going through admissions at the same time and none got accepted at the same schools (a literal nightmare lol). We paid the deposit and enrolled the oldest at one of our top choices because he’s high school. The others are on the waiting list for that school so we’ll enroll them at a different school and hope we come off the waitlist before May1st when we’d be on the hook for full tuition if we pulled out. I called a few of the schools and they mentioned having had a record high application year — predicting being totally full in some expansion grades like 6th even based on the acceptances they sent out.
