Yeah that's why I said the gay rights is slightly better in Taiwan than in Korea or Japan.And the gay pride parade too.It's the biggest one in Asia iirc.
But I don't think the bill will pass anytime soon,or ever tbh.The senators are old hags and being old is almost an equation of being homophobic here.

East Asia from my view, doesn't like homosexuality mostly because is a deviation from their social code, but rarely would act as hateful as many homophobic western countries, they act like that to everything that deviates from that rule, BUT they will be more severe around your private life, you can be a huge F*****T (im gay so I can say it) in western europe or America, and while you will receive discrimination, you can still keep your job, many people get seriously segregated in east Asia for just being gay, it's a silent but painfull punishment lost your job or even great opportunities.
In contrast, many people in the west purposely attack lgbt people for the simple fact of existing and being different,I see this in my country a lot, despite having laws that provide protection against us, people still dont care that much about it, but I could keep my life together ignoring just that.
I remember in school, im not feminine or extrovert, but sex life is so part of everyone's life that men cant spend a millisecond without talking about women and how disgusting gays are, i didn't brought it to the conversation and guys are already asking if I'm gay or not, it's just part of socializing at this point!

Here people tend to follow what other people do or listen to parents. Like someone is near 30 years old, they actively find someone to marry after being told by parents or they follow friends doing the same. Asian parents are heterosexual so most disapprove homosexuality and also premarital sex unlike western cultures.
