Another company, Heliogen, that wants to set up shop in AZ, pump groundwater and produce "green" liquid hydrogen for the next generation of "green" cars, hydrogen powered vehicles.

That's about 5% of what the Saudi operation is likely pumping. It also seems on the face of it to be a far more economically beneficial use than farming feed crops. Still, it underscores the need for management of groundwater resources outside of the metro counties. Rural legislators are opposed to that. Can't have it both ways.

Problem is, that is the same basin that the Saudis are using. I think the technology is interesting and follows on the heels of a few vehicle manufacturers announcing they are pivoting to Hydrogen engines vs. Electric. I just wonder about the wisdom of saying that the Southwest has a draught/water problem but hey, let's pump more water out of the system to make liquid hydrogen. Maybe it is a good thing...time will tell.
