What about Bisbee? You could drive to Sierra Vista, and spend the night, there is a decent hotel right outside the main gate to the Ft. Huachucha army post. Spend a day in Bisbee and checking out the Lavendar Pit mine. There's a cool little town area between the historic and new parts of town that has been kept as in the 50's.

Next day spend an hour in Tombstone and head home. Nice two night trip. There's a great lunch place in Bisbee up the hill across from the city hall.

Canyon de Chelly is a one night stay, if you must. Chinle is a filthy town, the only habitable hotel is a Holiday Inn a couple blocks ftom the navajo juvenile jail. I'd rather sleep in my truck frankly. You can take a jeep ride to the ruins.

PS - what about splurge and enjoy a couple nights at a spa resort in Sedona. Or even in Scottsdale? Actually, if I didn't have to work I think I deserve that trip myself!

Avi Resort & Casino has a pretty nice sandy beach area along the Colorado River, & boat ramp. There is a nice pool also.
I've caught & released some nice Striped Bass on the river...

I'm not sure if it's open yet but Arizona Snowbowl does lift rides in the summer once ski/snowboard season is over. The view at the top is amazing.

Any ideas of resorts to check out in Scottsdale or Phoenix?

We might do 2 days/1 night down there and then on the third day do a day-trip to Prescott.
