CB radios aren't just a Southern thing. It's a trucker thing, or used to be. Cell phones should have pretty much done away with them for the average Joe.

Moved to south Alabama from Atlanta - granted I'm not in a college town down here. The only thing I can pinpoint for myself is that the area (and the state in general) is far more politically conservative than I was anticipating.

How cell phone usage does away with cb radio. Hard to text when your driving and CB is FREE.
Nope CB is still the mode when driving on the highway especially for truckers I am thinking.

still very useful, minimal licensing, free and range can be extended. Poor man's ham radio. Perfect when the revolution comes. Cell phones towers will be down and / or compromised you can bet on that.

And of that .5% or maybe .05% that are truck drivers, how many are actually from the South?
