Will Rogers State Beach


The Will Rogers State Beach is located in Los Angeles and is near the former home of humorist Will Rogers. The beach is one and three quarters of a mile along the shores of the Santa Monica Bay. Rogers owned the land and his ranch was located within the 186 acres worth of space along the cost. The beach has been the filming site for a variety of television shows and movies throughout the years including the Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Kiss, Holidays with Heather, Summer Children and Baywatch. The beach features a variety of amenities including volleyball courts, the South Bay Bike Trail stretching just over 19 miles, restrooms horseback riding trails, gymnastic equipment, a children's playground, walkways and hiking trails, guided tours, access to historical sites, a visitor center, picnic areas and several exhibits relating to the life and work of Rogers. The beach is managed by the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors and is located just off of the Pacific Coast Highway. The beach lies within Santa Monica and the Pacific Palisades. The beach is popular for local and visiting surfers. Visitors to the area enjoy the beach for exploring and relaxing and locals often picnic in the area.
