The University of California Los Angeles is a public research university located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The university was founded in 1919 and offers over 300 total programs for undergraduate and graduate students. The total enrollment of the university is approximately 38,000 total students.

UCLA is organized into five undergraduate colleges, seven professional schools, and five health schools. The university consistently ranks very high in terms of faculty awards, research and development, and student retention.

The school also garners a lot of attention because of its high profile NCAA sports teams. UCLA is a member of the Pacific ten conference and competes as the Bruins. As a member of the Pac 10, UCLA has won a total of 125 national championships, which is more than any other university. Of the 125 national championships, 106 are team titles, which is also a record.

UCLA has several highly successful alumni to its name in the world of business, sports, politics, and medicine. Vint Cerf, an executive of Google, and graduating member of the class of 1972 is widely credited as the father of the internet. Other famous alumni include composer John Williams, and members of the bands Linkin Park, Maroon 5, and The Doors
