Toro County Park


Located at 501 Monterey-Salinas Highway 68, Salinas, CA 93908, Toro County Park is located six miles from downtown Salinas, and 13 miles from the Monterey Peninsula. First opened to the public in 1971, the park's 4,756 acres has seen thousands of visitors over the years. The park is also home for many types of wildlife including deer, coyote, and a rare mountain lion or golden eagle. Toro's pastoral setting makes it a place for picnics, reunions, and just to hang out. Toro County Park has several activities to offer the outdoor enthusiast. The park facilities include an equestrian staging area and riding trails, two softball fields, playgrounds, horseshoe pits, mountain biking, volleyball courts, and over 20 miles of hiking trails.

Toro Park has individual picnic sites free for general public use. Each picnic site contains a table and grill, and is conveniently located near restrooms and lawn activity areas.

The park has five group picnic areas and can accommodate groups ranging from 50 to 500 people. All are ADA accessible. A barbeque pit, tables, water and electricity are provided. Each area can accommodate a bounce house, however generators are prohibited. Consumption of alcohol is only permitted in the Quail Meadows and Buckeye picnic areas with the appropriate alcohol permit and liability insurance. The Buckeye Group area is also available for weddings.
