Skipper's 22nd Street Landing

For those who love the ocean, the full-service tackle shop known as Skipper's 22nd Street Landing offers the total package. The store carries all of the fishing industry's best-known equipment, such as Shimano, Aftco, Okuma, Tady, Mustad, and more. Also offered are chartered fishing trips aboard the Skipper's fleet of seven boats. Half-day, three-quarter-day and overnight voyages can be booked, starting from $30 per passenger.

The 85-foot Freedom is one of the largest vessels in the fleet, with four heads (bathrooms), two showers, a spacious galley, and the capacity for sleeping up to 64 persons. Departures start as early as 6am and night fishing trips are available as well. Daily seasonal whale watching trips can be arranged, too, priced at $15 for adults and $12 for children.

For those who prefer their fish served on a plate, 22nd Street Landing has its own restaurant for fine dining and featuring three full meals a day. Its San Francisco-style décor is marked by plenty of wood, arched windows, tin ceilings, marble counters, brass rails, and seating overlooking the Cabrillo Marina with its sea lions and pelicans. A private banquet room can be booked for functions of from 30 to 70 guests.
