Madame Tussauds Wax Museum Hollywood

Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Hollywood is one of the most popular attractions for visitors to Tinseltown. Madame Tussaud's has several locations around the world and has been in operation for more than two centuries. The museum's history dates back to the late 18th century in Paris. Madame Tussaud was tutored by a great wax sculptor and at 17, began work at the Palace of Versailles. She came to Britain in the 19th century with a traveling exhibition of public heroes and rogues in wax. Visitors tour the museum and see wax models of popular celebrities, political figures, movie directors, historical icons, Hollywood icons, televisions stars, movie characters, music stars, and sports stars. There are other wax museums across the country and around the world, but Madame's is unique because it allows visitors to get up close and touch the statues. Photography is also allowed in some parts of the museum. The museum is a popular destination for educators because the exhibits make learning fun for kids. Students can participate in scavenger hunts that conform to California learning standards. They learn about local and national historic figures, Hollywood history, and movie making, all in one place. Kids also learn how the wax figures are created. Themes include general education, seasonal, and homeschool programs.
