Liberace Home

Just off of Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood, the former Liberace home sits among the hills overlooking Beverly Hills.

Liberace was born as Wladziu Valentino Liberace in 1919 and showed prodigious talent at the piano by the age of 7. He developed his piano playing into more than just a classical music presentation, including pop and heavy doses of showmanship. Liberace played for prominent Americans, such as J. Paul Getty, Shirley Temple, and Harry S. Truman. At the height of his career, Liberace became the highest paid entertainer in the world.

The Liberace residence in West Hollywood, the construction of which started in 1926, is valued today at over $8 million. This 10,500 square-foot home is owned by the Soros couple, local socialites, and has four bedrooms and ten bathrooms. The home was originally intended to be the Liberace Museum after the death of the performer. However, the idea perished after complaints from neighbors.

By car, the Liberace home, at 8433 Harold Way, West Hollywood, CA, is 30 minutes away from Los Angeles International Airport. Tourists can visit other nearby attractions, including the Viper Room, Kodak Theatre, Walk of Fame, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Hollywood Museum, Madame Tussauds Hollywood, Hollywood and Highland Center, and a number of city parks.
