Kellogg House

The focal point of the Heritage Museum of Orange County, the Kellogg House's unique architecture and historical furnishings can be found on Harvard Street, just south of Centennial Regional Park.

Designed and built by Hiram Clay Kellogg, a surveyor and native Californian, the Kellogg House reflects his love for ships and the Victorian architectural style of the era. Kellogg built the spiral staircase around the mast of a salvaged ship from San Francisco that reaches from floor to ceiling. The house has been called one of the finest examples of a Neo-classical Victorian home in Orange County.

In 1980 the museum was moved from its original location in downtown Santa Ana and donated to the Heritage Museum of Orange County by the Kellogg family. Today it is used for interactive youth education about the Victorian era. The Kellogg House opens for tours Fridays from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Larger groups can make reservations for guided tours at other times.

By car, the Kellogg House resides about 45 minutes southeast of Los Angeles International Airport. Visitors can find within a short driving distance the Santa Ana Zoo, Irvine Museum, the Orange County Performing Arts Pavilion, Extreme Indoor Karting, and various local parks, beaches, and golf courses.
