Groundling Theater

Groundling Theater is located at Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, California and is approximately 20 miles from the city's international airport. It is an improvisation and sketch comedy theater founded in 1974 by Gary Austin and has been the springboard for some well known names such as Will Ferrell and Lisa Kudrow amongst others. Parking is available on some side streets, at meters on Melrose Avenue and there is valet parking on Poinsettia Drive.

Shows run most days of the week at 8pm although Sunday performances are at 7.30pm and additional 10pm shows normally on Fridays and Saturdays. The shows are open to anyone 16 and above with tickets available from the box office, which is open seven days a week. New sketch shows are produced by the main company members every three months and performed on Fridays and Saturdays.

During the intermissions, audience members can purchase soft drinks and snacks but there are also lots of bars and restaurants nearby too including Darkroom and The Village Idiot on Melrose Avenue. The company can perform for corporate events either at the theater or they can travel to the customer's venue. Several class sessions are offered each year at the Groundlings School, where students are taught improvisation and sketch comedy.
