Remarks: ID BY SMITHSONIAN. A/C INGESTED BIRD ON T/O CAUSING AN ENGINE FIRE. CAPT SAW THE BIRD WHICH LOOKED LIKE IT HIT THE SIDE OF THE NOSE BELOW HIS SIDE WINDOW. THEY DEPLOYED THE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLES AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. FIRE DPET RESPONDED. FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE WING AND ENG NACELLE. ABSORBENT MATERIAL WAS LAID DOWN. METAL DEBRIS WAS FOUND ON RWY. SEVERE DMG TO ENG. A HOLE ON THE TOP AND 2 HOLES ON THE SIDE OF THE ENG COWLING LOOKED BURNT AND FRONT OF THE ENG HAS BEEN BADLY DAMAGED WITH THE FAN HAVING SHRED. SOME FUSELAGE DMG FROM METAL DEBRIS FROM ENG. LOOKS LIKE SCRATCHES. SNARGE WAS FOUND ON THE COWLING, ALONG THE FUSELAGE NEXT TO THE ENG AND INSIDE OF ENG.. ONLY 1 BIRD WAS HIT. MORE BIRDSWERE SEEN ALONG THE EDGE OF THE RWY . NO PAX ON BOARD. A/C WAS RE-POSITIONING TO ANOTHER AIRPORT.

MX TECH CONDUCTED A/C INSPN MX MANUAL SEC 05051045 (BIRDSTRIKE INSPN/CK) AND FOUND NO DMG TO A/C. A/C RETURNED TO SERVICE. APPROX 3-4 HRS LABOR FOR MX CK IN CLUDING COMMUTING COST. DNA EVID COLLECTED BY CREW.
