WE SAW ANOTHER FLOCK OF 30+ MORE FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE RWY TAKING FLT AS WE WERE GOING AROUND. WE KEPT THE GEAR DOWN AND FLEW A PATTERN BACK AROUND. THE GOOSE HIT THE BOTTOM PART OF THE FLAP AND BENT IT SUBSTANTIALLY. IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. WENT AROUND AND WORKED WITH PHIL APCH AND RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT AND LANDED RWY 24 W/O INCIDENT. OUT OF SERVICE FOR 3 DAYS. PHOTOS.

A friend is trying to convince me that a few years ago for some extended period, several months at least, the control tower at PNE was inoperative. Considering the flight activity over the years I find that statement hard to believe and wonder if there is any official record to support or disprove it. Thank you.
