I was up there in the Fairfield area back in 1970. Staying with a friend and his cousin named Art Singley on their farm. Art was taking flying lessons from a man who flew with the Luftwaffe during the second world war. It was a small plane where you could open the cockpit by sliding back the glass cover. Which we did at one point. It was the first time I had ever flown. And I still remember it as a great experience. Not sure if this was the airport or not. The instructor seemed to have had a runway on his property and I thought after all these years he may have turned it into something bigger (he may not still be alive). But had always wondered who he was (can't remember his name) and if this happens to be where we flew out of or if someone there knows who I am referring to. Was truly a great experience. Not just the flight, but the fact that I flew with someone who was in the Luftwaffe is kinda historic.
