I pick up am kindergarten in the back and drop off pm K in the front. It used to be that a teacher was always outside with the children while they went to their cars. I drive a van for a pre-school and our children were always helped on by a teacher opening the door and closing it for them. Now the teacher stays inside, pokes her head out to see who is there and will send the children out as far as 5 vehicles back. I have observed children almost getting fingers smashed in doors because they have problems with them. Also, a child started to run in between vehicles at about 4 vehicles back the other day. I don't feel this is a very safe practice. There is a teacher in front of the building watching the children; why not in the back? We pick-up and drop off at other Clark-Pleasant Elementary schools and have no such problem. The children are escorted to the vehicles and safely put in them(not just our van but ALL vehicles). This takes no longer than a teacher not watching the children, not helping, and the line being tied up because of people at times having to leave their vehicles to get the children in, or the fact that it takes the children much longer to get doors open and closed. I don't care if I have to get out every time to get our children in and out my point is this is extremely dangerous for all the children. While they attend our school I am responsible for them as your staff should be while the children are in their care. I just don't understand the difference in your policies as opposed to the other schools. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Debbie
