In my opinion, Kindergarten and 1st grade have to learn way beyond there ability. I think these years should be learning how to read and write and comprehend. After they get that accomplished, students will have a better chance of figuring out answers to questions. If they have not excelled in reading and writing and comprehension, how will they ever figure out the answer to any question!! Teaching children new concepts will never be accomplished if the student can't even read the questions or comprehend the meaning if they have not had at least one good year of learning how to read and write.
