The owner, Judy Thorwart, also sells items here. She has a large selection of books, dishes, toys, and memorabilia; a medium selection of furniture, linens and paintings; and a small selection of jewelry and tools. Description: There are over 30 dealers selling their items in this half-market, half-antiques store in the first block on the east side of downtown Edmond. Everything from furniture to books, stamps, and postcards can be found here. And if you are looking for the perfect decorative item for your house, look here. There are lamps, doilies, folk art, and more. The store’s motto is “inspiration from every day.” Broadway Antiques won the Daily Oklahoman’s Readers Choice Award for Best Antique Store in 2008.

Description: Courtyard Antiques has been in business for 13 years. It has three dealers but the majority of the store is filled with items being sold by the owners who import items from Europe quarterly. The store carries a large selection of 1800s furniture, new paintings, and 18th- and 19th-century leather books. It specializes in timeless accessories, chandeliers, Fortunata, and elegant lamps. Hours are Mon through Sat from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

5. Red Velvet Bakery

Description: Tammy Morgan, the owner of Red Velvet Bakery, has been baking cakes for Edmond residents since 1983. She used to own Desert Rose, but moved to this location in 1996. Morgan makes everything she sells. On any given day, shoppers can purchase fresh bakery items, like sugar cookies, red velvet cupcakes, sweet breads, pies, and bonbons. Come early though, the case empties quickly and when items are gone, they’re gone for the day. Busiest days are Sat and Sun.Morgan also makes and decorates custom cakes, like wedding and birthday cakes. For those who are looking to special order, Morgan suggests ordering at least a week ahead. Hours are Mon through Fri 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sat from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
