Relocation - Reno, Nevada

Relocation

If you’re thinking about relocating to the Reno/Tahoe area, it’s not surprising. The quality of life here is enough to make many people consider pulling up stakes wherever they are. Nevada has boasted (or suffered from) the highest growth rate in the country for a number of years now, so it goes without saying that there must be something attractive about living here. As far as Reno/Tahoe goes, how about unlimited outdoor recreation with four mild seasons to enjoy it in? Or a tax-friendly environment that’s more affordable than many comparable communities? Or nonstop nightlife along with a plethora of arts and cultural activities? But before you schedule the moving van, I suggest you read a little more about what life is like in this area. In addition to this chapter, I suggest reading the Health Care and Wellness, Retirement, Education and Child Care, Media, and Worship chapters, which also have information relevant to relocation.

Since choosing where to live is one of the major decisions you’ll have to make when relocating, in this chapter I help you walk that minefield with a discussion of neighborhoods, real estate companies, and information about the housing market in general. But along with that I also tell you where you can register your car, enroll your children in school, and get a free relocation packet. Because not all neighborhoods are the same, let’s begin this adventure in moving with a whirlwind look at them, broken down by the four geographic areas: Reno, Sparks, North Shore Lake Tahoe, and South Shore Lake Tahoe.
