At the time, Tioman seemed idyllic. Heard it has developed a litter problem in more recent years.
But the snorkeling and the climate were perfect.
Going to Koh Lipe in a few weeks. Notice it hasn't had a mention here yet.
Stayed on Pulau Tioman several years back and wasn't overly impressed by it or for that matter other Malaysian(Penang,Renang or the other one on the West coast or Thai islands these days either,although i accept i may be a minority there.

WOW! Koh Lipe is a gorgeous island. The Similan Islands off Khao Lak, Thailand, are also worth a mention as well, particularly for divers.
Mildly worried about mosquitoes. Don't want the kids to pick up dengue or malaria. Going for the roll on repellent option.
The Similan islands are just a little far north for us this trip but for diving they sound tremendous.
