I checked and couldn't find any threads for this sort of thing... I'm not even sure if anyone really likes to make them, but it's one of my favorite things to do so hopefully there are others out there... Feel free to post ones that you've made or interesting ones you've found...I've got waaayy too many to post, but here's a few...well, a little more than a few

If anyone wants to make one of these you can download Virtualdub, it's standalone and doesn't need to be installed. FYI Virtualdub is widely used program in the video editing community for many, many tasks involving mostly processing video.

Once you open it go to:

file >> open video file

You can open either a video from camcorder or image sequence(img0001.jpg, img0002.jpg, etc) from still camera. To open an image sequence under file type change it to image sequence.

To export .gif use:

File >> Export >> Gif animation

I'm not going to go into options but there is many including framerate and frame size, decimate is an important one especially for video since it's going to be 30FPS and you'll want to drop that to around at least 10 for anything remotely small enough for the web.

There's thousands of plug-ins for this application and it might be of interest for those in this forum because it can also be used to batch process images.

wow, thanks for the info...I just use a sequence of photos because it's more fun for me, but there are some instances in which I want to take small clips of videos and do it... I use photoscape, it's a pretty good editor, too for the price haha

If you wanted to get crazy you can take advantage of many video editing programs for this, even if they don't have the .gif export option you can always import the video into virtualdub.

If you have one of these DSLR cameras that can shoot 6fps you'd just set the video or .gif to 6fps.
