We recorded this document-series and am watching the recordings. On episode 4 now. It is a must watch series. If you watched any Nickelodeon live shows of the 90s and early 2000 then you should watch this series.
We watched it last night. Unbelievable. Like Mark S. says, I'm not surprised at what went on behind the scenes, but I'm shocked at what they got away with on camera. How did they get away with this?? It's like they just got off on debasing the kids (and adults, too). God, some people are so disgusting.
The TV industry.. All entertainment for that matter.. Jumps through a lot of hoops.
You have multiple production companies, you have the network.. so on and so forth.
I think at the end of the day.. if Nickelodeon (and Disney and anyone else for that matter) didn't have something in the contract with production companies that says "Background checks must be run".. Then they ratchet up so far as the blame ladder for me.
Especially after what happened to Drake Bell.. While his name didn't get put out in public over what happened, until this series when he came forward... There's no question Nick knew about it.. And.. Seemingly still did nothing.
Even in their statements.. They seemed to 'defend' their reactionary model. While I appreciate that and do believe that if they got an official complaint, they would act on it.. Hey.. Gotta be a BIT proactive here, don't you think?
Hollywood has the same problem that most major corporations have: They don't really want to change or put forth the effort to do the right thing. But they do very much want to appear as if they want to change or put for the effort to do the right thing.

Especially when not doing the right thing is still making them money.
