In case you don't recall this was the 14 year old kid who raped/murdered his teacher. He got a sweetheart sentence of 40 years, which he could be out in less than 20 due to "good time" laws.

Anyways, while he was being held in a juvenile center, he attempted to strangle/stab a female juvenile facility worker.

It's been at least 3 years since charges were brought in that 2nd case, and yet there has been no update and no trial scheduled. The most recent article on this 2nd case dates back to 2017.

Please tell me the prosecutors didn't drop the ball. This animal is going to be out of prison before 40 years old and we need every case against him we can get.

Furthemore when he does go to trial and is found guilty, the judge better not make his sentence concurrent with his current 40 year sentence.

Believe the SCOTUS ruled on this also. He did get life but must be eligible for parole.

Jim Fisher True Crime: The Philip Chism Murder Case

Quote:
In February 2016, Philip Chism went on trial for the murder, rape, and robbery of Coleen Ritzer. After the jury found him guilty as charged, Superior Court Judge David Lowry sentenced him to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years. He was also sentenced to 40-year prison terms for the rape and robbery. Under the terms of these sentences, Chism will remain behind bars for at least 40 years. He will not be free before he reaches the age of 54.

In Massachusetts, a juvenile who commits first-degree murder cannot be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. The victim's family in this case criticized that law.

When cases like this involve young blacks or hispanics, the System often wants to sweep it all under the rug and out of the spotlight....they hope that people just forget about it (so that the perp can get off easy).

First I heard of this kid. Hard to believe he's capable of such horrible crimes at such a young age. He looks much older than 14.

This is why I cringe every time "reformers" make stupid statements like "teenagers are children and can't be treated as adults"

I'm sorry but kids like Philip Chism who are well over 6 foot tall and able to easily overpower adults need to be treated like adults when they commit violent crimes.

When we have a way to shrink Philip Chism down to 5'0" and take away 50% of his muscle mass, THEN I'll treat him like a child.

I understand the outrage at the crime and all, and i hope he never sees the light of day again, but size has nothing to do with maturity.

Default Second Chism Case Outcome?

It’s odd that there seems to be no mention in online news sources of the outcome of Chism’s second trial, where he was accused of attempting to murder a Department of Youth Services (DYS) worker at the Massachusetts facility he was serving his sentence for the murder of Colleen Ritzer. The victim in the second case was identified by the Boston Herald as Norma Hollenbach. I’ve used multiple search terms, but that article (below) is one of only a few news articles on the latter case with no apparent reporting on the trial. If my math is correct, Chism will be up for parole when he’s 41 (after 25 years from age at sentencing), and it would reassure a lot of people if he was incarcerated longer if convicted in the DYS case.

Parole may be a process given. And the answer will be : ' denied'.

Weird that his second egregious act is not being processed to jury or judge.
