Have you looked at Norwegian Air Shuttle? Or any other Norwegian air? I flew to the UK a few weeks ago for $400 round trip and I hear them advertised on the radio for much less one way.

Heads up... I just booked tickets from ATL to Nice in April for around $650. Most of that is fees, $150 to the airline. Lufthansa.

It's been a long time since I've seen 3 figure flights from the SE to europe.

Never really noticed this thread before! FWIW for the past week China Southern Air has fares under $400 to Thailand/Malaysia/Vietnam during the high season (winter - think tropical beaches) from the largest US international gateway airports. All those countries are cheap, cheap, cheap so one could have a several weeks long trip overseas for less money than a US 1 week getaway.

Went to book return flights to Vietnam yesterday for mid next year, only a couple of days after our friends had booked the exact same fights with the same airline - Virgin.

The prices had jumped towards 50% in literally a day or two!!

Thankfully we were able to book the exact same fights with a different airline - Singapore Airlines - at not much more than what our friends had paid.

Can somebody who've been recently to Italy please tell me if they're still allowing to put away your luggage on train stations? I've heard some don't anymore for safety reasons.

I'm going there March next year and I'm planning to do a quick-stop at Pisa while en route from La Spezia to Rome.

Ebates on Thursday is 10% back on travel.

I booked a car and hotel through Hotwire last Thursday. With credit card points, Hotwire discounts and Ebates, I save big time.

In my opinion, this is the most important site for you to know about to book flights

https://matrix.itasoftware.com/#search:

Enter your itinerary, select calendar option and enter a date. It will show all outbounds for the next 30 days. Then choose number of days, and it will give you a range of lowest fares for each stay duration. But you can't book there. Click on the lowest fare, and see which airline flies. Note the departure and return date of the cheapest flight, and go to a site like
https://www.kayak.com/flights

Search kayak for the dates you noted above, and they will find you the cheapest flight, normally the one that the above matrix search found. Then go to the actual ticket booking site that kayak points to as the cheapest. Or note the price, and call your favorite booking site and ask them to match fares, if theirs is higher.
