Some property managers have multiple properties. Additionally, I don't know how you could force someone to live somewhere. That probably entails legal violations.

Nobody would be forced to live anywhere. That particular person just wouldn't be qualified for the job and the company the would move on to the next resume until someone did meet the job requirements. One of the requirments would be to live on site. Like a live in building superintendant but your a propety manager instead. Just a different job title.

I don't think this is really addressing the issue. If a tenant or a landlord has a complaint, there are avenues for them to proceed. The problem is the length of time it takes for those avenues to rectify the issue. This isn't the fault of landlords or tenants.

I get what you're saying but a property manager could be an owner of multiple properties. So not sure how you'd enforce such a requirement. Essentially the Superintendent is an ext of the property manager so that mechanism already exists. Adding another layer would only make things more expensive for the residents because you'd have a Superintendent and than another representative of the property manager or the property manager themself - they would reside in another unit that would otherwise go to a paying tenant. Given the incredible lack of housing these days - we need every unit we can muster.

Property managers of social housing buildings should be required to live in the building they manage as part of job duty (tenants)

Why? So that they can understand what the tenants have to put up with all day and all night, every day, every night?
And hopefully improve conditions?

Or so the tenants will have someone onsite around the clock who has the knowledge (hopefully) and the authority to actually accomplish things for the tenants?
