Got a violation in the mail. I wasn't the driver, one of my roommates was.
How likely will a judge dismiss this, if I claim it was one of my roommates?
Never received a traffic ticket in my life. Want to keep the perfect record.

I was driving my buddy's van when I got clipped by a red light camera. My buddy was sent the ticket and was able to get the ticket thrown out because in the photo it was very clear that it wasn't him driving.

The photos are VERY clear. I got one, and the argument in court was that I was obviously the one behind the wheel. Worth the fight IMO.

Camera tickets are processed like parking tickets and will not appear on your state driving record. I got one here in Seattle, and it goes to the owner of the car. They actually take a video, and cannot see the driver, but even if the could, it cannot be proven. Here, it cannot go on your record, because of the lack of proof of driver. As the owner, however you have to pay since it's your car and you let the person drive it.

Did that really need elaboration?

It doesn’t go on your record and may not be worth fighting to be honest.

Wrong state but in TN they are not legal. Some municipalities still use them and try to collect but they are not enforceable per state law - you can't face your accuser. We tell them to take a flying leap...

I would definitely go to court and fight it. I would fight it even if I were the driver and I would claim it must have malfunctioned. They may show you video of the driver and it may even show the traffic light changing to red and I would say.....see there it definitely malfunctioned because I know I did not run that light. Flip it on them to prove it did not malfunction. Every thing electronic malfunctions at times and I am sure a traffic camera is no different so why not at least go fight it? You can also appeal it to the next higher court which will get you out of city court and they are more likely to throw it out because a silly traffic camera ticket isn't worth much of the court's time.
