old carrouth path - plantation of tallahassee pecan, what's with all the vacant homes/foreclosures? (for sale)

I am hoping maybe some locals can give me some feedback about what's been up recently with the small area of Old Carrouth path in 32303, in what I understand is called Plantation of Tallahasse Pecan neighborhood.

In a sort of park-like area between Monroe and Okeeheepkee, just north of the interstate, just east of Walmart, there is a small secluded lane, with about 4-5 properties on it. One has been abandoned for a while and foreclosed for taxes, and is now for sale at land value, a house next door is also for sale, and two more had been foreclosed in 2010. The agent who is listing one house for sale there told me they all seem to be vacant.

Yet, based on everything I looked up and read here, this area isn't in any particular crime zone, and is supposed to have the potential to be nice. These properties are zoned for not-so-bad schools as well.All this wooden area with trees etc (I am assuming it's a park of sorts there).

So why are they all vacant? Is it a small crimespot which just escaped the radar of the statistics that I have seen? What's wit the serial foreclosures there? Are they all somehow connected? Or did they find some sort of poisonous or toxic something there?

Trying to figure out whether buying off one of the lots there would make sense, but for me it would be to rebuild and stay in, at least half-time, so I am trying to assess the potential of the area to be decently occupied and alive again.

any advice?

I did a very quick search using Google Maps and noticed that it is not a county/city-maintained road (the owners must maintain it), and the street-view picture seems to indicate that it is more of a paved path than an actual road -- probably not in good shape to begin with. Also looks like a mix of manufactured and "stick-built" homes on the main road it intersects...throw in the fact that the elementary/middle school zones are likely below average, and you have the reasons for low prices, especially if there are foreclosures in the same neghborhood.

thanks for the effort, I am not asking why prices are low, I am asking someone who maybe knows the local story there to tell me, what it's like there now. the google streetview search that we can all do, if I am not wrong, only shows us what it was like when google initiated the street project (eg, 4 years ago)

now, all four of the homes on old carrouth are in various stages of foreclosure, one definitely for taxes (not mortgage), and it appears that it has been abandoned prior to foreclosure. now, these plots are all part of some sort of subdividsion known as the pecan plantation endowment company, of plantation of tallahasse pecan or something like that. I am wondering if actually these serial foreclosures at the same time have anything to do with the status of the land and its tax assessment, or with some environmental thing, or otherwise with the history with the subdivision. I am not sure whether it can be a coincidence, all four on one path?

for me, I am not as interested in the house and what it's been build of, the plan is to buy it for the plot and ultimately to rebuild from scratch. but I want a hope of some life there nearby.

the fact that the path is not maintained rather appeals to me. i like the sort-of seclusion and the wooded area etc. I used to live in northern California, there's a lot of stuff like that out there. but these things are good where it is also reasonably safe.

I know it looks like it was once secluded but decent bit up there, but I want to know if it's become dangerous, looted, frequented by criminals or anything of sorts, due to all houses on the lane being vacant now, or maybe it's not that bad (remote bit, not of interest to criminals, the other homes vacant recently etc)?

based on overall research, this is supposed to be not-so-dangerous part of town, but I am concerned that this lane would probably have a footpath from the walmart parking lot and there may be some elements who decide to hang out there if they discover that the homes are vacant. the hope is that maybe they havent so discovered, seeing as only two are for sale and no one else presumably goes by on a regular basis.

I am hoping maybe someone lives in that part of town and can give me some insight

that whole neighborhood has no schools of its own, but it's assigned to Sealy and Raa, I was told,both of which I have no problem with, based on what I read.
