Americans it seems are quick to fall for fads (because "EVERYBODY" is doing it!) and give little thought to how it may affect themselves until something actually goes wrong that was avoidable with a little bit of critical thinking.
It's still far less impactful than tennis. There's no running.
But true, it involves a lot of sudden movements, leaning, etc., that olds are often not used to. It's like fruit punch that you don't think has much alcohol, but...
