All hell is breaking out, with top teams setting up their own League and Uefa making all kinds of threats.
12 teams confirmed they intend to join the Super League as founders. The Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ - Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Manchester United and Tottenham - will be joined by Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan in founding the new competition.
World governing body Fifa had previously said it would not recognise such a competition, and any players involved could be denied the chance to play at a World Cup.
Uefa, Europe's governing body, reiterated that warning on Sunday when it said players involved would be banned from all other competitions at domestic, European or world level and could be prevented from representing their national teams.
Regardless of the threats, the teams seem intent to move away from national leagues to form a European Super League, which will see them earn even more.
Fans are not happy, and pundits have called it a decision based on pure 'greed'.
This whole things stinks! As a Tottenham fan I'm embarrassed!
By the way, does anyone else but me find it highly ironic that on the day this new league was announced 4 of the 6 "Big 6" in England wouldn't even be in the Champions League for next season if the season ended right now as Chelsea (5th), Liverpool (6th), Spurs (7th) and Arsenal (9th) are all outside the top 4, and Juventus over in Italy's Serie A just fell down to 4th place in Italy as well??

These owners are going to learn there’s no sports revenue without fan interest or purchasing power, and thumbing their noses at the loyalty fans feel for their club’s history, the area they reside and league system in which they’ve flourished is the worst mistake they can make.
They've shown they don't care what the local fans want, the owners see the global potential. They will betray the history and working class culture of these communities to make sure they can make quick money on a streaming site in China, India or in the US.
These owners need to be removed and this idea needs to be scrapped. I hate everything about it.
It’s already (predictably) falling apart. Man City is out, Chelsea soon announcing also, Man United firing its VP likely soon out also. Players leading the charge against the idea. Barca was reportedly only going to join if approved by La Liga, which wouldn’t have happened anyway.
Egg on their faces, but not surprising given what they tried with “Project Big Picture” last year. https://www.espn.com/soccer/english-...-leagues-elite

I suspect the owners are looking at global broadcasting rights as the main source of revenue. Those stadiums haven't been full for an entire year now and yet the money comes in. There are more fans outside the stadium than inside.
What will kill the deal is if players decide that they do want to play for their national teams and refuse to play for one of the 12 clubs.
Still, a lawsuit could settle this and it would be like the Bosman, where FIFA and UEFA won't be allowed to restrict labor movement.
so now what to do with the Fam power momentum? Will supporters groups try and oust owners? It will take a lot of money.
I wonder if some owners (Kroenke at Arsenal for example) might just sell their shares, given they obviously feel they are not making enough money owning the club
