That's as they closed, they use to have one in every mall, often confused with another brand with a similar name and look.
Yes, this. You could smell the fragrances in the Body Shop from halfway across the mall, they were pretty overpowering, sort of the predecessor of Lush. But they had good skin care products.

Now, Lush I have heard of, but there are none near me. I'd have to drive over 60 miles to reach one!
Never heard of them... 50 stores in the US isn't a presence.
The Body Shop was more popular in the 70s and 80s; Bath and Body Works is a direct ripoff of The Body Shop (but with cheaper ingredients and merchandise). The Body Shop was in every mall back then; there even was a store in the Pittsburgh airport at one time, no doubt in other airports as well.
Aww, that's too bad. There was a time I liked them, but hadn't bought anything from them in eons. I had one at each of my local malls that had already closed up long ago...the store, NOT the entire mall. The closest one to me now is a 35-40-min drive.
I would have rather preferred that similar store called LUSH to close.
I see their website says, "We're currently undergoing planned maintenance, but don't worry we're due to be back online soon."
Maybe they will be like the retail store SteinMart...all the stores closed, but they're still online to shop from.
I bought some cologne from that store because it smells great. The problem is that the scent lasts for three or four minutes, then disappears. It's really worthless. There is a certain expensive chemical that they put into colognes/perfumes to make them last longer. Apparently they put very little or none in their products to keep the cost down. They have stores all over Europe and in malls in Russia.
They're not completely going out of business as shown plus their stores will remain open in the UK, Canada and other countries.
They're closing UK and Canada also.

"The Body Shop Canada announced Friday it will close 33 of its 105 stores and its e-commerce operations as it seeks to restructure itself under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. The news came just weeks after its parent company filed for creditor protection in Britain."
