Yes, I signed up a long while back with the va website saying I am interested in the vaccine shot.
Since you have had GBS maybe, they want to wait a bit before giving it to you? Try and immunize other people to protect you? I don't know if there are concerns with giving the vaccine to people who have had Guillen Barre.

And yes, the vaccine rollout in Oregon is all sorts of messed up. If people miss their appointments, they need to have walk-ins ready to go to get shots. It is one thing to prioritize one group over another. I'm fine with teachers going before me, but if people no-show to their appointment, then you need to have a phone tree to call people on a "wait list" to come in regardless of what category they are in or let people come during the last half hour as standby for any extra doses that could be used at the end of the day.

It is nuts for sure.

It doesn't have to be complicated with planning and enough volunteers. Although the state offered it, National Guard assistance was not required.

I got my first Moderna vaccine shot today in Baker City.

Last week I registered online with the Baker County Health Department. A very easy process. They said they were due to get a consignment of vaccine this week.

On Wednesday, I got a call from the Health Department to schedule an appointment for today (Friday) at 10 AM. Told to drive to the parking lot of the high school gym where the shots would be administered.

Arrived just before 10 at the parking lot. 15 degrees and light snow. A lot of cars in the lot. Volunteers everywhere. Everything really well-marked.

First stop, quick check-in with the usual questions. Given a clip board with a form to fill out after I parked. Volunteers directed me to a parking spot. Filled out the form and got out of the car. I was asked if I wanted to use one of the 10 golf carts on loan from the golf course that were transporting people who have a hard time walking to get to the gym, or if I wanted to walk. I said I would walk, and he pointed out the marked path to the door to enter the gym.

Entered the gym. Turned in the paperwork. I was directed to one of the tables where the shots were administered. Was given the injection by a friendly young woman. Time: 10:15. I was given a card with the 2nd dose information and vaccine information brochures and was asked to sit in a waiting area until 10:30 to see if I had any adverse reactions. A large digital clock was projected on a screen. Was asked if I wanted some water.

No adverse reactions. Left at 10:30.
