Don't give them any ideas! They'll be hopping all over the country every three months, wreaking havoc with landlords. Of course, it would add to the entertainment of their saga for us as readers.

Breaking a lease reflects on your credit, as well as (if) the next apt. complex wants a reference from the previous complex manager. Breaking a lease can be just as bad as getting a Notice that your lease will not be renewed. We've had neighbors that got that Notice before and had to move out.

A lawyer, or even a apartment manager, will tell anyone that breaking a lease isn't a good idea at all. That is, unless it's for medical reasons or an emergency.

Thanks for the suggestion of flying up, RosieSD, but we are going to drive up. Just like ChrisMT mentioned to us in their post. And, from what we read here on C-D, from some posts, we will like the area up there. So, we won't have to worry about relocating to somewhere else. We've also talked to some residents here, that lived in/around Carson City/Reno, and they really liked it. However, due to the job situation there, they had to move south to Henderson/Las Vegas area. An Electrical Engineer told us he loved it up there, but couldn't find a job. Moved down here and less than a month, had a job as an Electrical Engineer at the Stratosphere Hotel/Casino in Vegas. A great paying job at that.

I'm thinking that most folks on C-D live in homes, not apartments? We had a house in Colorado, but it was too much work, so sold it and that's when we started living in apartments. Not nearly as much work and all repairs are taken care of.

You can buy your way out of a lease. It is a simple matter of money.

You mentioned that people in Sheridan didn’t wear cowboy hats. You won’t see them in Reno either except at the rodeo. I think you are looking for a place like Carson or Fallon. I don’t think you will like Reno. You can easily get around the Reno sparks area without using the freeway so your wife won’t have to drive on the freeway if she doesn’t want to.

Well, perhaps we would have to show then that wearing a cowboy hat in Reno is an "in" and cool thing to do, that is if we end up moving there instead of Carson City. Actually, my wife was sort of shocked to see, online, how big the hotels/casinos were in Reno. Will just have to find out how things turn out, but we are pretty sure, however not totally, that northwestern Nevada/Carson City area will be for us. It most definitely has to be better than living here, for us anyway.

Reno does have one of the biggest paying rodeos in America, along with a Legendary Rodeo Announcer, Bob Tallman. And, I know the rodeo stock contractor, and his family, that provides the stock for this 10-day rodeo. I worked for his dad a number of times at So California rodeos.
