Well now you know.

Note that Puget Sound in Washington state also has active earthquake zones.

We are not allowed to post pictures on C-D, so please click the link below for a picture of the earthquake zones for the entire USA.

Yes I have lived here all of my life. I'm a native of SF Bay Area and of SF. More of late they have been saying it's not a matter if Hayward Fault has the BIG one but when it the BIG ONE will strike.

I do not want to be around here when that happens.
We have had many quakes here since which were alot closer in miles. One quake was centered just 1/2 where I am at now unknown fault-I don't want any part of it.

I was walking in SF during 1989 Loma Prieta quake which is further away south of SF long distance and I got stranded for over 6 hrs. because transportation system stopped and bay bridge cracked in half.

I do not want to be here when that Hayward Fault goes (the Big One)
It's alot closer than the Loma Prieta location is where I am at now.

So why is a quote for earthquake insurance for renters like $100 a year in California but like $1,000 in Nevada?

Good question.
I know for homeowner's earthquake insurance through CEA has a deductible over $50,000.
It isn't worth it with such a big deductible like that.

Last time I heard and keep hearing is that the Hayward Fault is the ONE that is going to erupt. It's due with a 66% chance. I don't know the latest stats. That Hayward Fault runs through major population centers, hospitals, residences and businesses. The casulty rate will be HIGH.

Thanks for the info! I'm glad I moved out of the Bay Area to Carson City. [And I didn't buy the Nevada earthquake renters' insurance.]

I would just be very concerned about the faults nearby or the BIG ones that are expected.
