Hello folks!

Currently in north Idaho and have family relocating to the Rapid City area. They are looking for some acreage within an hour to Rapid City, up to Spearfish or down by Custer and in between. How bad are the ticks there? We don’t really have ticks in north Idaho so that whole thing is new to me.

Anyone with personal experience on this, your input would be greatly appreciated.

That may be true, although I haven't experienced them at all and we hike quite a bit. I am, however interested in the tick situation in South Dakota rather than Idaho. It seems from the lack of responses that perhaps they are not a big deal at all, similar to where I am at.

Like the poster said, ticks are all over, from coast to coast. If you have deer, you have ticks. And they don't just stick to deer. They can be as small as the period at the end of this sentence. So can be easy to miss.
