There are so many large, medium and smaller companies in the Triangle who say their business is power washing, but so many don't know what they're doing. Superior Powerwashing didn't even show up one day. TLC Window cleaning and Power washing out of Apex, came and washed the entire house supposedly in like 15 minutes. Apex Powerwashing one time used too much of that bleach solution and took off the paint on the front door. They also used water on the front door edges do water came inside.
Do these companies know how to handle fiber cement siding cleaning vs vinyl vs wood or do they even care?
I tried reading reviews on Google maps, nextdoor, etc and there are so many companies. So anyone here have any good recommendations for a house washing/power washing? Saw good recommendations from newer business like Island Power washing. Seems like anyone with a truck and a machine is marketing themselves as the best power washer.

Confused that your location shows as Virgina, but. . .
Check with your immediate neighbors. Hopefully, they have the same fiber cement siding, etc.

I'm in between locations, figuring things out, staying with family and a host of other things so maybe I'll change it at some point. But as you can see, all the power washing places in my post I tried are from the Triangle area
This brings up another point - do people in this area wash their roofs? I used to live the northeast and many people also did "roof washing" in addition to power washing the siding, porches, decks etc. Supposedly the same strategy, cleaning the mold, mildew and dirt makes the roof last longer? (For those of us who are actually trying to make the roof last long instead of just hiring these door to door salesman who will file your insurance to repair hail/t-storm damage).
Back to the original topic, a friend recently used Sullivan Soft Wash out of Cary and had a great experience - seems to have 5.0 stars on google maps.

Yes, people wash roofs.
But, it is strictly a cosmetic action.
Doesn't make the roof last longer at all. That claim is merely a sales ploy.
The black streaks are algae poop. They occur in shaded areas well before they are in sunny areas. If you have dormers on your roof that face directly east or west, it is common for the northern bit of roof to have algae streaks due to the shading and for the southern bit of roof to have none due to the sunlight exposure.

I asked a contractor contact and he says nowadays, they don't recommend washing the roof. Says it will "take years off the life of the roof." Also says good luck finding a power washing company that is willing to wash the roof. Although Sullivan soft wash website clearly says that.
Makes me hesitate to wash the roof even for cosmetic reasons then.

Soft wash the roof. Power washing is definitely a bad idea.
Of course it is OK to wash the roof. It is just a matter of using minimal pressure to get the solution on the roof so the chemicals can do their thing on the algae.
I question your contractor's knowledge on the matter.
