Margaux's is nice, and would be fine early in the evening, around 5:30pm.

Enjoy!
What are the nice places in Brier creek????

Most everyone jumped right on the steak bandwagon, but you didn't establish cuisine parameters and so I'll enthusiastically recommend Lucky 32 in Cary (or Greensboro, not sure how far west you might be). I love the suggested steakhouse recommendations, but Lucky 32 really offers a diverse menu with great ambiance. It's been one of our favorite go-to's when celebrating something. However, my now adult sons are massive fans of steak and ribs and so Angus Barn is always a smart choice.

Now let's sit back and wait for the haters to show up and shred either or both recommendations. Sometimes Lucky 32 escapes such vitriol, but Angus Barn almost never.

I was just about to suggest The Fearrington House but you got it in there at the very end! The gardens are beautiful in the springtime and the dining experience is sure to make a lady feel special on her 50th birthday.

Osteria Giorgi in Chapel Hill or Second Empire in Raleigh. Second Empire is my suggestion. Reserve well ahead of time.
