Or this one?

'Cause there are places in western Chatham that already look nothing like they did 10, 20, or 30 years ago, like Siler City, which is now heavily majority Hispanic (50% Hispanic, 29% white, 19% black). There was a great book written about their high school soccer championship about 10-15 yrs ago, called “Home on the Field: How One Championship Team Inspires Hope for the Revival of a Small Town.”.

NYC2RDU, when did you move down here? You may have missed the massive growth that happened decades ago. I would say the past 10 years has not been that dramatic in Chatham. There has been growth, of course, but the 1990s was a big decade of change for Chatham. Next decade when Chatham Park starts getting more built out that will also really change things.

I don't think growth in Chatham is a particularly great litmus test or accurate measure of steady growth in the Triangle. That's kinda silly. Obviously growth in Wake, Durham, and Orange counties, the core counties of the Triangle are the best measure of growth in the Triangle. Duh. Why would growth in Chatham be a measure of growth in the Triangle? There are parts of Chatham that are not Triangle-oriented at all. Siler City, the current largest city in Chatham (though Chatham Park will change that) is 20 miles from Asheboro, 25 miles from Sanford and 30 miles from Greensboro vs 50 miles from Raleigh. That part of Chatham is much more oriented about the Triad/Asheboro and the Sandhills/Sanford than it is the Triangle.
It was really just clarifying that there are some distinct difference between eastern and western Chatham county. Not that one is completely better than the other. Both have their pros and cons depending on what kind of amenities and pace of life someone is interested in. Certainly the northeastern corner of the county is more upmarket in terms of demographics, and that's where the most change is pretty certain to occur over the next few decades. Though that doesn't mean zero growth for the other areas, just much slower growth in all likelihood is what is on the horizon.

So I was just fielding the question to see if someone had a completely different take but from the other few comments it looks like there is pretty consistent agreement about that distinction. And I agree with your assessment about how the Siler City area is oriented.

A new hotel is in the works for a burgeoning mega-development in Pittsboro in the latest addition unveiled for the project.

Earlier this month, The Malcolm Bryant Corporation of Owensboro, Kentucky, filed plans for the Hampton Inn – Mosaic, calling for a 5-story Hampton Inn & Suites as part of Chatham Park's commercial gateway, Mosaic.

Filings with the town call for a 120-room hotel with a total of 78,416 square feet. The project is situated on three acres at 324 Freedom Parkway, north of downtown Pittsboro and Highway 64.

Pittsboro, NC – The public is invited to a virtual presentation with the N.C. Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Town of Pittsboro and Chatham Park Investors, to discuss the proposed construction of a new north-south roadway east of Pittsboro called North Chatham Park Way.

Currently, U.S. 15-501 is the only major north-south route through Pittsboro, funneling all traffic through the historic downtown area. NCDOT and the Town have identified an opportunity to partner with Chatham Park to accomplish the goal of providing an alternate route for traffic traveling through downtown Pittsboro while continuing to support the economic development of the region. It will increase mobility options for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

The proposed project, State Transportation Improvement Program Project No. R-5930, begins at U.S. 64 Bypass just north of Suttles Road and ends at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 near Russell Chapel Church Road, covering about 2.7 miles. It connects to the existing segment of Chatham Park Way (from U.S. 64 Business to U.S. 64 Bypass) that was recently built, which is now open to traffic.

The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners approved a rezoning request Monday that will help pave the way for a new retirement community with the potential for over 2,200 residential units.

The community, Townsend Tract, is planned to be built across 740 acres just south of downtown Pittsboro along the east side of U.S. Highway 15-501 and Moncure Pittsboro Road. The project would be next to, but not part of, the massive Chatham Park development that's currently underway.

The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners approved the preliminary plat and annexation request for a new subdivision this week.

Plans for the Mellott Planned Unit Development – Phases 1A and 1B were approved during a town meeting Monday. Phases 1A and 1B of Mellott call for 127 homes, 75 of which would be single-family homes and 52 of which would be townhomes. Plans call for this development to be an age restricted community to residents 55 and older.

The land sits along Russet Run near the Mosaic at Chatham Park development and is right next to the boundaries of Chatham Park.

A Vietnamese vehicle manufacturer which wants to build 250,000 premium electric SUVs per year in the U.S. may be close to finalizing plans to locate a plant in Chatham County’s Triangle Innovation Point megasite.

VinFast, a private automotive startup founded by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, is closing in on an agreement to invest up to $7 billion in a manufacturing plant at Chatham’s Triangle Innovation Point — one of the county’s two megasites.

If it happens, VinFast would mark one of the largest economic development projects in North Carolina’s history.

As first reported by the Triangle Business Journal, VinFast would produce both electric batteries and vehicles at the site. Unnamed sources told TBJ that VinFast plans to occupy more than 1,000 acres in Triangle Innovation Point.

An official announcement from Gov. Roy Cooper’s office is expected within the week.

The company’s full build-out will eventually bring between 10,000 and 13,000 jobs to the TIP site, the 2,158-acre life science and advanced manufacturing park formerly known as the Moncure Megasite. It’s located in southeast Chatham close to the Lee County line.

Chatham County outgrew Durham County according to the latest published Census estimates for July 1, 2021. This is true by percentage and absolute numbers. This is going to be a big decade for Chatham.

Yes indeed. With development at Chatham Park going full throttle and a big fish reeled in at the megasite, and a national tide toward suburban and exurban living, Chatham is on the cusp of transformational explosive Growth.

several more housing developments other than this one and Chatham Park are in the works for Chatham co. (as well as in Lee county)
Most are in North Chatham or straddling Pittsboro proper but
Cumnock village is one development in the works that's in Lee co. bordering Chatham co., right at the booming little town of Gulf on 421 .
Hope Chatham is ready for the fast evolving explosive growth .
