I've been critical for some time regarding ESPN on several issues, but they also have had some quality employees. And Chris Mortenson is one of them. He's a no-nonsense reporter and a true professional-period. Like Susan stated, stage 4 is serious stuff. Am hoping he can recover. Mortenson is one of the good guys in the sports reporting business.
Wish him the best. I think throat cancer might be one of the more dangerous types of cancer.

If i'm not mistaken, it's not a massively fast growing cancer, however, curing of it, or rather, sending it into remission normally has pretty bad side effects/consequences. And, I believe it's pretty high chances of metastasizing.
I can think of 3 people offhand who have had it.. Michael Douglas, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and, supposedly, Val Kilmer.
Douglas, I haven't seen since his treatment.. Bobby Heenan is a shell of his former self.
Val Kilmer.. Rumor mongers give him less than 6 months to live.
Throat cancer seems to occur most often in smokers or heavy drinkers.
Odds are high that he was a heavy smoker or drinker. Cigarette smoke attacks every cell in our body. So does alcohol. Alcohol also attacks cholesterol, so I drink an ultra lite every day. For my health.
Val Kilmer? Are we sure? Does he smoke? Thought it was taboo for Christian Scientists. Val KIlmer is an anomaly. Such a talent. yet he has chosen to star in bomb after bomb over the past couple decades. Movies that grossed less than a million. True bombs.

Wishing nothing but the best for Chris Mortensen. Always professional. Always a gentleman.
