I'm considering buying a house on several acres in Dewey, AZ but have some concerns.

Everything you describe sounds like how a normal house is built, or at least was built years ago. Wooden 4x4 posts that hold up your deck will split over time but they aren't going to break. No the termites aren't going to home in on your house because it has wooden beams under the floor. Have a good contractor do a thorough home inspection.
