Where does PA stand currently in terms of fully legalizing cannabis? I know medical is allowable here, but what about recreational and all the ancillary THC, CBD and CBN products that are being developed for over the counter sales? I heard various candidates in the 2020 election staking out their positions on legalization, but has any progress been made on this, or is it going to be indefinitely blocked by the state legislature here?

Most likely the latter, especially if the Republicans control at least one house of the General Assembly.

It's not guaranteed to move, however, should that not be the case.

This is usually how far it goes. Introducing legislation that never makes it out of committee. However, we can dream right?

https://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia...%20concentrate.

Political efforts to legalize marijuana in the Keystone State continue after a previous bill failed. Five state senators, including three from our region, have introduced a bipartisan bill to legalize the drug for recreational, adult use. Senate Bill 846 was introduced on July 6 by Sens. Dan Laughlin (R- Erie County), Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia), Timothy Kearney (D-Delaware County), Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny County) and John Kane (D-Chester and Delaware Counties). This recent push comes about two months after Laughlin and Street announced their plans to partner on introducing new legislation for marijuana legalization. The bill would create a Cannabis Regulatory Control Board that would take over some oversight powers from the Department of Health. The board would handle permits and applications from dispensaries that want to sell in the state.

IMHO, eventually the domino has to fall. The states surrounding PA have legalized recreational cannabis. New York, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland have legalized recreational marijuana. Ohio is coming up for a vote soon. That only leave West Virginia. So money talks and PA doesn't want to lose tax dollars to bordering states. It's a "when" more than an "if" question.

It seems you can be arrested in PA for selling Delta-8, which is legal in the state.

The process to get a medical card is so easy, it's like "pseudo-recreational" in PA. You just have to spend money on an annual medical license (more $$$ for the state...) and get a 15 minute online "checkup" to make sure you still have whatever ailment you used to get the card in the first place. The acceptable reasons to get a card include things like chronic pain and anxiety, which almost everyone has to some degree.

What an interesting story, but there must be more to it. I don't think the police can make things up and arrest him. There could be a mistake made, but one would think it would be sorted.

Need to hear from both sides before I would feel comfortable understanding all of this story.

That's great. A few years back, you basically needed to have cancer or AIDS to get a card.

Ohio is legal now. Only one domino left and that is WVA. WVA is only state surrounding PA that isn't recreational. Only a matter of time for PA. Can't keep losing tax money to these border states.

We shouldn’t delay on this, but we probably will. We are not a go-getter state. We wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait.

The legislature will never let this go to the people for a popular vote because they know the people will support it.

WV will likely pass this before we do.

You are preaching to the choir. It would make sense to move forward. If WVA passes a bill before PA does, that would be an embarrassment. However, that would entail our politicians being above shame.
