Hello.

I'm doing a project for my class about Nebraska in the 60's and was wondering if you wouldn't mind me interviewing you.

Please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience at jsamuels@huskers.unl.edu

Thanks

Did anyone ever go into Hotel Fontenelle?
That place fascinates me.

It's a shame so many of our great buildings were torn down. The old post office is another one that breaks my heart.

This is a great piece on the Fontenelle

The Hotel Fontenelle

And it references the sinister demolition of the post office as well.

I was also in Omaha in the seventies. Times were very turbulent in that era. Many riots around various parts of the inner city as well as the park across from UNO. However, the time is better remembered for the wonderful people and positive attitude of the people of Omaha. The strength of the people during the Blizzard of '75 followed a few months later by the Tornado of '75. There were also many fun spots for people in their 20's. Does anyone remember the old Quebec Club on Ames? Many good poeple met at that spot to be entertained by the bartender Don Losole. What a people caring person Don was (is).

When you mentioned the riots I was thinking "no way, this can't be right" and then I Google'd it and sure enough, there were several race related riots in 1960's Omaha.

I lived about 24th & Kansas at the time and although I was about 1 1/2 miles north of the epicenter, we could still hear the uprising.

I also remember hearing the bomb blast from 28th & Ohio that killed Larry Minard in August of 1970.
