Have you seen the new church being built in south OKC off I-35? I wonder where the funding came from. If what I read about the priest’s life is true, he would probably have preferred that the money go to the Guatemalan people.

I guess it's because we don't have too many Saints around here. So they want to make a big deal out of the one that we do have.

But I suppose it is more a matter for the Catholic Church that it is really an Oklahoma issue.

Haven't seen the building but I responded to the thread because I happened to drive through Stanley Rother's hometown yesterday and saw the monument they have for him there.

We have visited the monument in his hometown.

I think it's to memorialize his faith, his works, and his dedication to the gospel which resulted in his death.

Instead of worrying about the money aspect, the OP can always walk the walk by donating some money to charity in his name.
