As a OU Fan I’m excited about being in the SEC, I’m going to miss the BIG 12 I know some OSU fans are not happy about the move but bedlam will still go on. So for many of y’all how do you feel about the move and are you going to travel to all the road games?

It's all about money and more of it. OU and Texas being able to regularly play against big football powers, such as Alabama and LSU will bring in more money than the other members of the Big 12. It will be interesting if the Big 12 will be able to hold together. What other colleges would want to become new members of it with OU and Texas gone?

Big12 rebounded nicely with the addition of four teams which probably should have happened back in 2016. Maybe OU and texas could have stayed but the Big12 leadership could never lureother major schools to consider leaving their conference and joining ours---the defections of A&M and Nebraska and Colorado and Mizzou were too tough to overcome.

OU/texas will get markee matchups in the Sec.

I'm hoping when they do the pod system it's OU/Arkansas/A&M/texas.

OU is going to regret this badly. Going from the best program in the Big 12, winning the conference championship most years and normally competing for a BCS Championship berth to maybe, at best, the 4th best program in the SEC and maybe, at best, a conference championship every 10 years or so.

OU is not LSU or Georgia, and is not even close to Alabama. OU will rank just fifth in the SEC in revenue and will only have the 8th largest football stadium. OU does have a good recruiting class coming in, it's ranked 8th in the nation, that's good, but there are four new SEC team above OU in the rankings.

In fact, calling OU the 4th best program in the SEC is being very generous, and only possible if you ignore the fact that OU lost their head coach to USC. He knew what I am saying in this post. That's why he left.

SEC National Champions since OU won:
Alabama - 6
LSU - 3
Florida - 2
Georgia
Auburn
Texas*

Cincinnati, BYU, Houston and UCF.

Yours is certainly a negative spin on OU joining the conference.

First, OU is already in the top four or five in SEC revenue... and they are not even in the SEC yet.

Secondly, while you can list all these championships by SEC schools won since OU won in 2000, none of the others besides Bama has had as many appearances in the BCS title game and playoffs as has OU. So OU is will positioned to make a leap if the SEC enhances recruiting and revenue.

I think OU fully realizes that they aren't going to win six straight conference titles in the SEC but I think they feel like if they do make it to the top of the SEC that those particular teams will be able to win the national championship.

The larger question is whether OU's recruiting will improve enough to compete toe to toe with the best SEC teams annually. Especially when you consider that the top talent mostly resides in SEC states. But recruiting is already pretty good at OU and is bound to improve with the SEC brand.

Yes, and OU is also the only team to have played in more than two CFP games without a victory.

.
That's a bit of revisionist history. I don't know about the other three, but the Big XII could have added the University of Houston at any time during its history, if only the Big XII "leadership" had been smart enough to do so.

With the SEC brand? Why? What does that do?

California and Florida are the top states for recruiting. OU’s recruiting in California is going to be hurt by this move to a more eastern focused conference. Florida is barely helped because OU will play maybe one year in four in Florida. Texas is the third biggest state for recruiting, and OU will be playing fewer games in Texas, not more. OU likely will not be hurt in recruiting in Texas by this move, but how could it help?

After that the best states are Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Ohio and Michigan. The last two are not relevant to the move. But in the other three states is OU going to suddenly out recruit Alabama, Auburn, LSU and UGA? The home teams that are already more successful and have more money? No, that’s not going to happen. So where are these new better recruits going to come from? OU is going to battle now for the same “new” recruits where the top SEC schools are located and are already dominating recruiting.

It makes no sense. That’s why coach left. The movers in these conference changes have almost all really, really regretted it. Nebraska? Missouri? Colorado? Texas A&M? Have they done better in their new homes? Any of them? None of them are competing for championships, at the conference or national level.
