Do you need a realtor who specializes in single family homes, horse farms, vacant land, rentals? You need to clarify what type of realtor you are looking for. I live in Ocala and I am a former, non-practicing realtor. Are you in the area or planning to relocate here?

My former boss/broker, Desiree Barbazon (Desiree Barbazon Realty) is very good. You can do an internet search for her office/contact information. If she can't help you directly, she can make a referral to another local realtor.

I found realtors rather useless when I was searching for a home. They didn’t know the inventory were very poor at finding anything but obvious listings. I would recommend that you search Zillow. Once you find a few homes you are interested in call the listing agent. They should know more about that particular property than others who didn’t know it exists until you ask about it.

Bad advice in my opinion. Buying directly from the listing agent is usually not advisable as they represent the seller's interests and not your interests. I had bought and sold my first home without a realtor and a few years after that, I became a realtor myself (no longer practicing). The old saying "You don't know what you don't know" applies here. It is advisable to have yourself professionally represented in matters like this. YMMV......

Pay attention to the bolded section above. It is not likely unless you find a realtor who is new or just incompetent. Just like hiring a contractor, you can interview a realtor prior to employing their services. Many times, folks hire realtors based on recommendations by friends and family.
