It's already open for about a month now but here's an article on the St. Lukes facility in the new Smithfield Gateway project. Only thing I could find because I was searching, wondering when they going to work on the rest of the project.

They've filled in some of the potholes in front of the place, too. My son lost a wheel cover there and found it the next day, but it had been run over and was all cracked!
I think my doctor is in the new building. That's cool, shaves off over a mile, round trip!

I cracked a rim in front of the DQ coming home from work. Had to get it welded so my tire could hold air. Definitely was a hazard. Glad they fixed it.

So...wife had an appt. over at the new St. Lukes facility the other day. I noticed a sign for a new Wawa going over there. Meh! I thought there was talk of a new supermarket going over there.
Guess there was a change of plans and the developers just want to fill it up at this point. Now a few years ago I had a conversation with the owner of KFC in Stroudsburg and he mentioned they might be going into this project. Things change so I don't know if that is ongoing or not either.

I heard they are knocking down the old Shannon/Days Inn and putting in a Sheetz. Not part of the Gateway project, but within a quarter mile or so.

That's an interesting development. I thought someone with deep pockets would revitalize that Days Inn into another hotel. Fell into disrepair from what I've seen so no takers. Except for the first part being Sheetz having deep pockets. Great footprint for a Sheetz. Looking forward to it. Still there's a gas station right next to that site so that is perplexing.

Here is a link to a PR story about the proposed Sheetz (plus McDonald's and Starbuck's). It's not a done deal, just a proposal at this point. The developer needs approval and financing, etc.

I found another link to plans for this project. Looks like the Wawa is going to be finished by the end of this year and a Popeyes is going up next to DQ. They are still plan on doing the apartment portion of the project. Just waiting on financing, permits, etc. as mentioned earlier.

Guess there was a change of plans and the developers just want to fill it up at this point. Now a few years ago I had a conversation with the owner of KFC in Stroudsburg and he mentioned they might be going into this project. Things change so I don't know if that is ongoing or not either.
