Amazing what a private contractor can do vs the state's glacial progress. They should have done this decades ago. NYS was always way behind other states in terms of modern rest areas. Considering the high tolls and that the Thruway was paid off in 1992, they should be giving the food away.

That toll road referred to in Orange County (Orlando), is worth every penny. The 417. It cuts 30 minutes off the trip from Jacksonville to the airport each way. We bought a transponder and we don't even have to slow down as the tolls are assessed by an overhead gantry. It also covers the parking at the airport.

The toll booths have been removed for a while on the Thruway. My point is that many states have their share of toll roads and the states that people associate with toll roads may not be the states that have the highest amount of toll roads or most expensive toll roads. https://ezfreightfactoring.com/blog/...united-states/
