Hi!

I'll be in Nola from Monday, March 5 till Friday, March 8.

I am there attending a conference... it will go like this:

March 5: NOLA must-visit places and restaurants. Where should we go/ eat?

March 6: We'll be driving from NOLA to Mobile Alabama. Are there any hidden gems there? we'd like to see Mississippi and Alabama!

March 7: Conference day morning till 4 PM... (free from 4 PM onward) what do you suggest?

March 8: conference till 3 PM then leaving NOLA at 6 PM...

Your comments are appreciated!

If you're only in NOLA for a day or so and attending a conference, there won't be much time for anything other than walking down to the Quarter or taking a ride on the street car out St. Charles Ave. Time permitting, I would go to the WWII Museum and Pat O'Briens. So many good restaurants - we like the Gumbo Shop for lunch and Peche for dinner, but honestly, most places in NOLA are pretty good. You should post in the Mobile and MS forums for other suggestions. I'm from Mobile; it just doesn't compare to NOLA in just about anyway.

Thank you for the good info.

I see. Are you saying it's better to skip the NOLA Moblie trip?

Get beignets and cafe-au-lait at Cafe Du Mond! The line will be long, but it is well worth it.

If you want to go to AL, visit Gulf Shores. Prettier than Mobile.

Skip Gulf Shores - Orange Beach is better.

Catch some live music at Preservation Hall. What are your interests? There's lots of stuff to do. Quirky stuff like the pharmacy museum or bigger museums like the WWII museum.

Cafe Du Monde is very over-rated. Years ago, that was the only place to get your basic beignet. Now, you can find them, with various flavors and shapes, all over the French Quarter.

Make reservations for Brennan's in the French Quarter for dinner.
